Every now and then items come through our shop with little known about them. This interesting piece is one of them! At first glance it doesn't look like much at all, but mounted on a wall it all starts to make sense.
Victorian newspaper racks were an everyday item of the era that were typically designed to sit on the floor - much like the magazine racks of the mid-20th century. What's unusual about this rack is the fact that it mounts to a wall and it can be opened to hold articles or closed to keep things tidy. Genius!
